RTLS Engineer

Job Summary: 

N-ovation Technology Group is seeking a seasoned RTLS (Real Time Location System) Engineer.  RTLS is an umbrella term that includes multiple technologies for locating and tracking items. It includes Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) based location finding, active and passive Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), and a few other location technologies, including ultrasound (US) and infrared (IR). The potential uses and benefits of this technology are significant, and include improvement of quality of patient care, improved patient satisfaction, reduction of health care asset management costs, improvement of capacity/resource planning, improvement of employee and patient safety, as well as improvement of general asset management and inventory. A specific technology monitors each of the active RTLS technologies.  Each facility uses a combination of hardware and software to track active tags.


The RTLS Engineer will be overseeing the upgrading and maintaining the existing RTLS tracking solution. Provide integration services to connect the existing facility RTLS active asset tracking technologies to Maximo Asset Management Tracking. These integrations will send data (active tag ID, location of tag, date, and time) from the RTLS asset tracking technology to Maximo.   The MAXIMO and RTLS interface is vital for maintaining an accurate inventory. **Please note - this is not a current position. This position is part of a proposal, contingent upon award to N-ovation Technology Group**

Job Duties:

Provide RTLS active asset tracking technology integration to MAXIMO.
Provide an interface which provides RTLS data from the facilities to Maximo. The interface shall send the location, date, and time of the RTLS tag when the tag communicates with the RTLS location engine.
Assess the current server hosting environment and recommend changes or modifications to support the proposed solution.
Provide operational and maintenance services for the upgraded RTLS asset tracking solution. This includes software maintenance and monitoring, operation support and system administration.
Develop a Help Desk Support Plan and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
Support response times by severity.
Test and validate changes necessitated by modifications by RTLS technology software.
Support, and maintain servers and plan for service outages and other problems that arise.
Establish a change process to record all changes to the deployed RTLS system and releases.
Provide a plan for backups and disaster recovery to reduce downtime and ensure the integrity of the RTLS solution.
Support for calibration and RTLS map due to construction projections for renovations in a medical center by updating RTLS floor map.


Skills / Qualifications:

RTLS experience required, preferably in IT Healthcare
Experience leading, integrating and fielding enterprise solution across distributed client locations and data centers.
Experience with leadership of a large startup deployment of complex solution working with the client and partners which own distinct components of the overall solution is required
Knowledge of current IT technologies and methodologies

Ability to multi-task and invest in ramping up new projects.
Ability to work independently with little supervision, good judgement.
Solution-oriented, ability to proactively identify & synthesize problems where necessary and formulate innovative solutions.
Strong inter-personal and vendor management skills.


Education / Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree or suitable professional qualification, preferred Computer Tech related field
5+ years RTLS experience, preferably in Healthcare
US citizenship is mandatory
Must possess or be able to obtain a security clearance
